MOONLIGHT ON THE BAY

The sun was setting in the west
As we walked along the beach.
The waters were at evening rest
Your hand within my reach.

The moon was full and partly hid
Behind a scudding, mackerel cloud.
As feet beneath the surf foam slid
And two hearts new love gladly vowed.

Time passed in a silent rush
As we rested upon the sand
Til the moon’s light took eve’s blush
While closeness our passion fanned.

We shall return again I’ve planned
With a blanket to restrain the sand.
